Top 10 Ways to Reach Out to Non-Christians

by Sarah Nutter

You want em and weve got em!

 1. Pray for them. What can we do on our own strength? Don’t forget that prayer is powerful.

2. Get to know them. That means spending time with them. Earn their trust and respect.
3. Invite them to your youth group. And when you get there, don’t just abandon them  and go hang out with your church friends. Instead, introduce them to your friends and stick with them, making sure they feel welcome and a part of whatever’s happening.
4. Don’t judge them or assume you understand them. They’ve been judged by other people, and it turns them away. God is the ultimate judge, not you.
5. Be honest with them. They’re not a “project,” but you do care for them and want them to know Jesus. Tell them that!
6. Write them a letter of encouragement to let them know that you’re thinking about them and care for them.
7. Show biblical hospitality. Invite them into your home. Do some activity you both like, talk about stuff, make dinner, do your homework together, whatever. Let them meet your family. Share your life with them.
8. Share the gospel with them. Show them key verses in the Bible; don’t just quote summaries. Listen carefully and respectfully to their point of view and beliefs. Answer their questions honestly and fully. If you don’t know all the answers they need, admit it and get help from your parents, pastor, etc. Be clear but not forceful. Let your words be bathed in grace and love.
9. Don’t give up on them. Gently and tactfully pursue them, pray for them, and remind them that you care for them.
10. Pray even more. Like we already said, prayer is powerful.
