What is the significance of Ahaz having a new altar built for the Temple? (See 2 Kings 16.)

Ahaz would have thought that doing as the surrounding nations esp Assyria would gain him favour of the gods of the nations who were prospering at the time with relative peace. Now the use of heathen monuments is a curse also of our age as we are called by our Heavenly Father to rid ourselves of asherah and its related falsehoods. In this gathering period we do well to refuse any appearance of evil and rely only on our Lord Jesus Christ.. AMEN
