Why are you a part of this faith?

Jason
July 20, 2005

Why have you decided to adopt the life of a Seventh-day Adventist?Have you been taught the reasons that gave birth to this name?Have you been taught what this life means? Why are you different? Are you different?Have you been taught to understand the following subjects:the true love of Jesus, the humanity of Jesus, the life of Jesus, the death of Jesus, the resurrection, the Holy Spirit, the Sanctuary Services (Past, Present & Future),the Judgement, the Sabbath, the Law & Grace,Justification, Sanctification & Glorification (Righteousness by Faith),the 3 Angels Messages, the Health Message (Jesus' call to care for our physical bodies),Obedience,Victory over sin (not just forgiveness for it),State of the Dead,Gifts of the Spirit,Spirit of Prophecy, the Seal of God andthe Fear of God?To properly understand these subjects is to understand the life Jesus has promised to ALL who accept and walk with him.To understand these subjects is to put meat on the bones of "Jesus Loves You"To understand these subjects is to give shape, form and real substance to "John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."Have YOU yourself personally asked God to help you understand these matters? God would very much like to personally teach you.

Wow. I pretty much grew up going to church on Sunday. My grandma was a pastor and my mom very dedicated church member. You see there was something missing though, I could feel it even at age 10 thereabout. The greatest thing though was that i was in love with Jesus. When was in high school (all boys) some of class mates told me of some thing I had never heard of coming from the scripture and so my eyes were opened to the Sabbath commandment and the SDA faith (praise God). It was about 2 years later before i actually went to a SDA church, but i fell in love with how active and bright the youth were in (AY) praising God. I must say i fell in love with the truth as it was unfolded to me and I thank God for youth who spread the gospel or else i might not have been hear. So youth and all don't be afraid to share your faith, there are still more lost ones like i was out there waiting for you to come along. There is nothing to me like this faith, as it is the truth of the bible and the narrow road that we have to trod. As Delice said, you will loose some friends and family members, job, career probably more for some but you will gain a new family and eternal life with God. Amen.

I was initially apart of this faith out of curiosity. I was attending various Sunday churches with my mother when one day I remembered the ten commandments. I spoke to my mother about it and we started attending a seventh- day adventist church. Of course I still had old habits like being apart of a dance troupe that practised and had shows on sabbaths. It took many years for me to really submit wholly to church doctrine. One thing for sure, God and I have connected on a much deeper level and there is this unexplainable feeling that cause me to be sure of God's presence while trying to be a commited Adventist

I was born and raised a Catholic...while 75% of my faimly is Catholic ... 25% are Seveth-day Adventist ...so i was exposed to this faith from the time i was a kid...as a Catholic i never pick up my bible ..only time i read the bible was when i visted my Adventist relatives ...i didn't start taking God seriously until two years ago...and i realised that i was being lied too... and I'm a part of this faith because it's the Closest thing to the truth ..and when i say closest thing to the truth....i'm not talkign about it being not being real or it being fake.. in other words there's going to be loop holes when human are involved..cause we get to caught up ....But the Adventist faith a rational intellectual logical choice.... it's not based on feelings or circumstances and i beleive with all my heart ...this is God's remenant..He said if you lack wisdom ask for it and don't doubt Him...you'll get it ...I prayed about it ...asked for His guidance ..and this is where He stopped with me..to be honest with you when i was allowed to make my own decision as to where i wanted to go to Church ... SDA was last place on my list to be honest with you i didn't even have it on my list....i beleive you have to have some sort of a relationship with Him first to even consider being and Adventist on ur own..if u grow up in the faith...lucky you ( hopefully you learn to have that relationship with him and not take the whole remnant thing to your head and think you're safe) ..but when you're coming in from outside...it's has to be GOd who lead you there ..because too be honest with you ..it COST WAYY TO MUCH TO BE AN SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST...you loose freinds...Jobs and even ur dreams are broken...alot is given up and lost...and u have to have a relationship to where you trust Him to take care of you if you summit yourself to Him....this faith doesn't add not take away from anything...yes God is good but it also talks about the rest of Him most other people won't even address....and that confusses alot of people ....submitt urself to GOD he will lead you ....he lead me

Hi Arian,Ask God especially to bring understanding to you regarding the sanctuary. It was truly the beginning of my deepening love for God and this message. Simply put, its the gospel made visual. The gospel is the good news of God saving us from (NOT IN) our sins. The sanctuary is a visual of HOW God DOES this. The sanctuary explains how God separates the sin FROM the sinner, for the sole purpose of destroying sin without destroying the sinner. If we leave our sins in the sanctuary by faith he will surely keep us FROM them and ultimately SAVE us!Hope this encourages you! Press forward :-)

I agree with Shayna. all the days of my being an Adventist. I have pretty much follow along since that what i was raised into. But when i turned my life completely over to Christ it hits me how much i really didnt understand. I just want to learn, n i have been. The topic of sanctuary is one thing that never seem to b able to b covered, it has soo many difeerent things to understand about it. It's all really overwhelming when u know exacly why ur a Saventh Day Adventist.

I think we all let ourselves be dragged along by our parents (or relatives or friends) in our religious beliefs until one day when we realize that we don't HAVE to believe what they do. If you have the option to explore other faiths, it's really overwhelming to digest all the teachings that are offered. As you pointed out, though, the Adventist faith is more than "do this" or "don't do that." My relationship with God is what cemented my loyalty to my faith. I started praying very specific prayers and realized that they were being answered TOO specifically TOO often to not believe in a loving God. Once God had my adoration and devotion, the specifics were something that I wanted to do, not something I HAD to do. I think if you look at religion as a title with instructions that must be followed, you miss the true meaning and blessing--getting to know God.
