Explore God's Word

January 27, 2009

Well we made it to 2009 and I feel that we may be in for a bumpy ride. With the economy in the shape that it is and people losing jobs, homes and other things we are going to need to count on God even more. So for 2009 I want to encourage you to take time to explore the Word of God on your own! Each month I am going to post a theme and give you some food for thought to explore what God says he will do for you.

This month we are going to take a look at the word "Doubt" and see what God says in His wonderful book the "Bible:"

The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. —Deuteronomy 31:18

But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. —James 1:6

Now, faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. —Hebrews 11:1

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" —Hebrews 13:5-6

We live by faith, not by sight. —2 Corinthians 5:7

"Everything is possible for him who believes." —Mark 9:23

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher that the Earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts that your thoughts."  —Isaiah 55:8-9

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.
—Romans 5:3-5

A week later His disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" Then He said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe." Thomas said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." —John 20:26-29

Take these verses that I have given you and explore God's word further on why we don't need to doubt. God will always be there to help us in our time of need. Next month we will look at Courage and Strength.
