Abandon: Self-titled

Abandon, a very promising new alt-rock band from Forefront Records, releases their self-titled debut April 21. Leaving fans salivating at the prospect of a full album, Abandon continued to just whet fans’ appetites little by little, first releasing a digital EP last year, and now repackaging and slightly reworking the lineup for a CD release.

New track, “Hold On,” starts out sounding like a nursery rhyme but quickly evolves into a Killers-esque finish. It showcases a group who’s already very comfortable with their musical limits and has created something great. Though the vocals and pacing of this album’s tracks are reminiscent of The Killers’ earlier work (a secular and unrelated group but a great one for comparison!), this band offers a much more positive energy that goes against the grain in the rock world to Christian and non-Christian circles.

“Be Alive in Me” is another great track the exudes upbeat, rousing enthusiasm: “Lost inside the desert of my heart / All of my mistakes are adding up / Take them all away I’ve had enough . . . . / Be alive in me / I know I’m yours forever.” You’ll never grow out of this message, and that’s refreshing! Look for Abandon on tour this summer. They’ll be serving up a concert you won’t want to miss.

If you like All Star United, Shawn McDonald, or Audio Adrenaline, you’ll love this artist!
