So I'm in a relationship with a guy who was my close friend for awhile. I never thought that we would end up going out, but over time our feelings grew and when he asked me out I said yes. Our relationship is great and I'm happy, but my parents don't know about us and I'm sure I should listen to them and wait until college to date. I don't want to break up with him and potentially mess up a relationship, but I'm compelled to obey my parents wishes (which I didn't do in the first place)... What should I do??

What do YOU think?

Where were you born? Brooklyn, NY

What is your favorite part of your job? I love it when someone tells me that something they read was exactly what they were struggling with exactly when they needed to hear it. (I assure you that this is ALL GodÉI myself have no useful wisdom to share at any given moment!)

What was your first job? The first time I technically got paid for something was when Insight published a story I sent in when I was 13! My first real job was as a research technician in a USDA entomology lab in Fort Pierce, Florida.

What's your favorite Bible story? Without a doubt, the story of Joseph. Read Carlyle B. Haynes' God Sent a Man sometime!

When was the last time you lost your keys? I'm not trying to be silly when I tell you this. Every single night when I walk to my car after class, I have to put one or more books, my laptop, my lunch, my umbrella, notebook, etc. onto the hood of my car as I dig (often unsuccessfully) into my school bag trying to find my keys. I'm really sort of concerned that security gets a good laugh out of watching this episode unfold every evening.

Do you have any pets? I have a betta fish named Fuego and once upon a time, I had a bigger aquarium with cichlids

When you were a teen, what did you want to be when you grew up? A doctor. And a part-time writer. And a pastry chef.

What are you now? A doctor! (Almost!) And, an Insight columnist! And, a gourmet chef! OK fine, not the last one, but still, how awesome is God?

What's the best book you've ever read? The Incredible Power of Prayer by Roger Morneau.

What's the biggest disappointment you've ever had? Hmm, there might be tears if I get into detail. I matriculated to one of my "back-up" colleges after my father--a deadbeat dad--refused to pay for my top choice school. I loathed my college years, mostly because I was disappointed in the people, the environment, and the experience. I think it's important to note, though, that God always has a plan! There are always bigger, more important reasons that we experience hardships in life.

How have you changed since you were a teenager? I'm more self-confident and I know with certainty that God has it all worked out.

What's your favorite Bible text? Isaiah 49 (entire chapter).
